Nigeria’s electoral process evolving

Notwithstanding the misgivings people may have about the outcome of the 2023 general elections, I must say that the Nigerian electoral system has evolved from what it used to be.

The fact that sitting governors could no longer use their incumbency power to install their successors and also manoeuvre their ways to the Senate which was hitherto referred to as the ‘retirement home’ of governors, show that it is no longer business as usual.

It shows that Nigerian votes are beginning to count and it is my belief that things can and must always get better. We must not lose hope in the system. Things must work someday and somehow.
