Remove Adamawa REC, Fintiri’s campaign council urges INEC

Kabiru R. Anwar, Yola

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Campaign Council in Adamawa State has called for the removal of the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged involvement in malpractices.

Addressing journalists in Yola yesterday, the deputy Director General of the campaign, Chief Felix Tangwame, accused the REC, Hudu

Yunusa, of allegedly collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to perpetrate rigging in the governorship election which was declared inconclusive.

He made reference to an alleged leaked audio in which the speaker alleged to be the REC instructed an election official to assist a female candidate, insisting that with such audio in the public domain, Hudu ought to have been removed.

He therefore called on the police, the DSS and other security agencies to investigate the REC with a view to checkmating his ‘sinister actions’ that could plunge the state into chaos.

Tangwami also called on all election observers, members of the press and NBA as well as the public to pressure INEC to remove the REC with a view to investigating his alleged excesses.

When contacted, the INEC Information Officer in Adamawa said he would not respond to the allegations, saying accusations from politicians have become part of the challenges the commission was facing.
