I voted for my children’s future – 85-year-old woman

An octogenarian, Mrs Ajara Sanni, who voted during the Governorship and state House of Assembly elections, said she voted for the future of her children.

The 85-year-old Sanni made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Lagos.

She told NAN that she took the pain to vote because she desired a better future for her children.

Sanni said she decided to trek for more than four kilometres from Iwaya to Abule Oja, a suburb of Lagos State, to exercise her franchise.

According to her, exercising her civic responsibility will go a long way in ensuring that her preferred leaders emerge winners of the exercise.

“I walked over four kilometres to be able to cast my vote and I went through the stress because I want a better future for my children.

“With my assessment, this election is well coordinated, INEC has tried and I hope they will keep it up,” she said.

Also, a 65-year-old voter, Oluwayemi Adewunmi, expressed confidence that the nation would be put on the right track again, by virtue of the outcome of the elections.

Adewunmi, a trader, advised the incoming government to address issues relating to high cost of food stuff, unemployment and hunger in the country.

She said the winners of the election should desist from turning deaf ears to the challenges of the masses but rather focus on delivering on their electoral promises. (NAN)
